Transport Department, Government of the Punjab initiated VICS project to establish, state of the art 39 VICS stations in all districts of Punjab in PPP mode. An international Swedish firm M/s Opus inspection was selected in 2015. This project will improve road safety and reduce environmental pollution caused by unfit motorized vehicles. Twenty six stations have been made operational . Seven hundred (700) skilled jobs have been created from local market and staff deployed at these stations are trained by international experts from USA and Sweden. CCTV camera coverage of all VICS stations addresses the transparency elements. Seven key tests including brake, alignment, noise, emission, headlight, suspension and visual inspections are being performed by using world certified equipment.
