The city of Jhelum is situated in plateau range of the Northern area of Punjab with its borders joining Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Jhelum is located at right bank of river Jhelum along National Highway (N-5) previously called G-T road (Rawalpindi – Lahore section). It is situated at a distance of 165 km from Lahore and 115 km from Rawalpindi. As per 1998 Census, the city had population of 129,440 persons with a growth rate of 1.99 percent per annum. The population estimated for the year 2007 was 148,586 persons, which is expected to grow up to 180,950 persons in 2015 (PMSIP, 2007). The total area of Jhelum city is about 22 square kilometer (km2) or 8.5 square mile (mile2) having Population density of 6,500 persons/ km2.

- Recommendations for the issue of heavy vehicles entering the city boundaries to access stone crushing plants
